This tonometer is intended for ophthalmologists, because the device is also useful when measuring intraocular pressure in non-compliant patients (f.e. children and dementia patients)
It is also used by general practitioners, optometrists, occupational health care and other medical personnel.

Icare® TA-01 can also be used for the home monitoring of IOP.

The tonometer is based on a new measuring principle, in which a very light probe is used to make momentary contact with the cornea.
The measurement is barely noticed by the patient and often does not even cause corneal reflex.

No anaesthesia is needed.

The device is small, handheld and portable.

The method is accurate, and the force applied to the eye is very small.

The rapid measurement enables monitoring in non-compliant subjects
